Wanderlust

A Day in Paris

‘You know, I sometimes think, how is anyone ever gonna come up with a book, or a painting, or a symphony, or a sculpture that can compete with a great city. You can’t. Because you look around and every street, every boulevard, is its own special art form and when you think that in the cold, violent, meaningless universe that Paris exists, these lights. I mean come on, there’s nothing happening on Jupiter or Neptune, but from way out in space you can see these lights, the cafés, people drinking and singing. For all we know, Paris is the hottest spot in the universe.’   ~ Owen Wilson, from one of my all time favorite movies, ‘Midnight in Paris’

I agree 😉

Just one day in Paris floods the mind and your senses with…with…well, as Hemingway said, each one finds their own Paris–and perhaps that is the magic!

Details: Oldest art store in Paris, Sennelier established 1887. Sketching in Luxembourg gardens, watercolor set I was using by Sennelier, Charvin watercolors at the Charvin store on the left bank of Paris and exiting the flower shop where I purchased the peonies that turned into the oil paintings in this post 🙂

Details:
Carousel in Tuileries Garden, Prima Classic watercolor set, journal from Italy…and a new pin on my jacket–did you catch it?

Details: Paris Peonies I & II–oils with some new Charvin blues I’m playing with. 5 x 7 on panel. Photographed in the empty tub at my Paris apartment due to awesome skylight overhead 😉

P.S.  I’d love for you to share this post/letter with a friend that you think would enjoy it AND if you’re new here and would like to receive these in your inbox about once a week, click here to subscribe
