During the Creative Process

A Gathering of Friends and Dream.Love.Paint Online Ecourse News!

Who is behind the gift?

Ocean spray light turned on by the sun.
Waves dancing their way to shore, wrapping cozily ’round your feet
Another day dawning, a new day created yet again.
Childish handwriting of a 7 year old proclaiming you to be the BEST and most loved of all.

No matter the gift, it is the giver that tinges and imbues it with love.
It is the giver that causes the gift to be emotionally charged with good.
It is the giver that causes our eyes to brim and our hearts to swell with JOY.

Let that gift in you go forth in such manner that all who receive it feel the LOVE that binds us all together.
You are the giver and the gift.

I am learning a lot about you.
I created Dream.Love.Paint for adults.
I am learning that some of you are still like big kids before Christmas…the waiting and anticipation is almost more than you can take 🙂

Like any good parent, I am holding my ground and moving ahead with my plan for telling you about the course and how it came to be and the place we created for it and how thoughtful we were in the filming of it and how I am most excited about the heart and soul talk portions of it which I think will be of huge life value for everyone, no matter your medium, and sharing some funny filming out takes along the way (and yes, Eddie was involved in one of them), HOWEVER…

I did decide to fudge on one small thing.

Some of you already know you are going to take the Dream.Love.Paint online course.  You don’t care what it costs or if your spouse decides to leave you because you’ve become obsessed with painting.

You are, in a word, shameless about the whole affair.

To those of you who qualify for the above, I am releasing the suggested supply lists early.  You don’t need to get anything/everything on the lists.  They are simply my suggestions.  The Premium List shows the exact paints, brushes, etc that I use on my paintings everyday.  The Value List is for you budget minded ones (in case the spouse really does leave 😉 ) and there is a Water-Based Oils List for those wanting to paint solvent free.

I’m only here to serve and make you happy.
And to keep Eddie in line.
(Both of which have turned into a full time job.)

Keep in mind:

You are welcome to use whatever colors, brushes, mediums, and surfaces that you wish for following along on this e-course. Always know that any artist’s work that you may admire looks the way it does based on specific things they are using/doing.
My painting “recipes” are like any regular kitchen recipe you might cook up. The more substitutions you make in ingredients, the greater the variance in the results.
And variance doesn’t mean bad, it just means different.
Remember, when it comes to art … different can be a good thing!
Understanding this can help you make the choices that are right for you when it comes to your supplies and your budget. You will learn as you go what you like, what works best for you, what to keep, what to discard. It’s what we all do as artists. You may find a brush that you like much better than the one I use—and that’s what it’s all about!
You can always build a wish list for later as you watch the videos.
I want you to feel the liberty to pick and choose what you like/need according to your budget AND at the same time let you know specifically what I use—and why—so that you know exactly how I achieve the vibrant colors and effects that I do in my paintings. Fair enough? ?

  1. Patti

I work with acrylics, easier to clean up, would that work for the workshop???

    • Dreama

Hi Patti–you said workshop here and I’m assuming you are talking about the Dream.Love.Paint Ecourse? For that here’s the scoop: My vibrant colors and brush work are achieved with oil paints and that is what is outlined in the supply lists for this course.
Naturally, you are welcome to use whatever colors, brushes, mediums, and surfaces that you wish for following along.
You can always build a wish list for later as you watch the videos.
Note about Acrylics: My method in oils is working alla prima (wet layer back into wet layer). Acrylics dry rapidly and make for a different result. Much of my thought process, loose style and brush work is applicable to both mediums.
I want you to feel the liberty to pick and choose what you like/need according to your budget AND at the same time let you know specifically what I use—and why—so that you know exactly how I achieve the vibrant colors and effects that I do in my paintings. Fair enough?

Wonderful Sue! All of the colors, brush, boards, etc are the same. The only difference of items is this: 1 pkg of 6 x 6in gessobords and one small container of solvent (which can be Gamsol or Turpenoid). So excited for you!!
