I am grateful for the gift of time; taking time this morning to make homemade chocolate chip pancakes for my family, lunch time spent with an artist friend, time for an art date, and taking time to write in my gratitude journal and on this blog and reflecting on all of the things I am grateful for each and every day. When those bits of gratitude are all strung together, I realize how much bigger and better life is when you have an attitude of gratitude.ReplyCancel

I will be eternally grateful for sharing this month of gratitude with you all. I have learned and been deeply touched by your comments and feel even stronger ties to my tribe of fellow artists. We see and feel the world differently and aren’t afraid to express those feelings. This has been an inspiring journey that is only just beginning. The ripple effects will be felt far and wide like waves in a lake. We have looked inside ourselves to uncover our own gifts, some of which we never knew we had. In turn, we will reach out to others as well as pursue our passions in life. Yes, Dorothy said “There’s No Place Like Home”. It starts here and now within us, and who knows what amazing things we can accomplish! Thank you Dreama for your vision, wisdom, and most of all – FUN! The Universe is waiting to hear our shouts of Joy! Rock on!ReplyCancel

What a beautiful painting to end this entire amazing month’s worth of giving, sharing, love, kindness, joy and gratitude. One of my favourites.

I#d like to say thank you to Karen, for sharing the link from the ArtNetwork website you told us about last week, and specifically, the pastel artist Richard McKinley’s post, about the art of seeing.

I have what would be considered quite poor eyesight, but thanks (eternal thanks!!!) to modern medicine and some amazing eye specialists/surgeons (and my parents who brought me to these specialist and surgeons), after two eye operations when I was a child, and with the lifelong help of glasses (and contact lenses when I turned 18), my eyesight is ‘good enough’ to where I can see, read, write, draw, paint, drive, ride a bicycle, walk in the countryside or along the beach and see all of nature’s awesome beauty.

I am and will be forever grateful for the gift of sight and vision – to be able to see my beloved husband’s face each mornning – especially his eyes, and his beautiful smile, and also my sweet cats playing, and also to be able to see my friends’ faces when they laugh or smile when we meet up for a girls’ night in (or out).

To be able to go to a museum or a gallery and behold and be inspired by all the amazing works of art (and craft) that are being exhibited. To be able to see colours – glorious, vivid, luscious and delicious colours – like the ones in your amazing paintings, for instance!

Not a single day goes by when I don’t give thanks – I will always be grateful for the precious gift of sight.

Oh! And your idea for the Gratitude Drop Box is a brilliant one! I love it! There is truly so much to be thankful for and grateful for – we need only stop for a moment or two to see it and feel it…ReplyCancel

I am grateful for so much, not enough room on the internet for it. I will say that top of the list is my family and friends (especially my artist friends). I have to make special note of my furry friends, I had to put to sleep one of my best buddies, Fatboy a couple of weeks ago and he has left such a huge hole in my heart. I am grateful for the Gratitude Month of November. I will keep on this wonderful idea of feeling gratitude every day from now on. I am grateful to my mother for being so selfless and unconditionally loving me. 10 years ago she donated a kidney to me without one milisecond of hesitation. This is one of the most self-sacrificing gifts I can imagine giving to another. She is an inspiration and motivates me to live each and every day to it’s fullest. She has also inspired me to tap the artistic side of my brain and taught me to paint at a young age. Although a hobbyist, it is extremely cathartic and all these years later I am enjoying sharing photos my art via Email with her. Grateful I am making headway in ‘clearing out’
my art studio…and came across this quote:
“The choice for gratitude rarely comes w/out
some real effort. But each time I make it, the next choice is a little easier, a little
freer, a little less self-conscious. Because
every gift I acknowledge reveals another and another
until finally, even the most normal, obvious,
and seemingly mundane event or encounter proves to be filled with grace.” Henri Nouwen
But you knew that, Dreama — it’s what
    you paint… grace-filled subjects, isn’t it?!!
    Blessings! Monica DahlReplyCancel

What a beautiful month of sharing. I am so grateful for this experience This Sunday we are having an open house for our art class, I remember so well when a got brave enough to take the first step and take a class. Thank goodness I did not quit. I brought home a painting- so I thought and my son’s comment was “oh Mom looks like somebody in kindergarten did this”. Needless to say this fired the old girl up. So grateful I listened to my gut and kept plugging away. Happy Xmas to all.

    Dreama,

I am grateful for such a BEAUTIFUL morning, today’s post and for you. You are a bright spot for so many people with your positive attitude and words of encouragement. It takes so much time just to put together a blog but you have taken yours a step further. You have filled it with love, commitment and effort and you have done it well. And now you have topped yourself by actively getting others to join in and become aware of the things in their lives for which they are grateful but that we usually just take for granted. And todays quotes were just what I needed. They reminded me to let go and let God.

I would in turn like to leave you with a quote from one of the smartest and most influential women in my life, my grandmother. One of the many things she used to tell me was, “Don’t ever feel sorry for yourself because no matter how bad you have it there is always someone that is worse off than you and you don’t have to look very far to find them.” ~ Mary Boor And after all these years she still helps me to keep my life in perspective.

So thank you for the morning inspiration. What a way to start the day! :o) (Sorry this is such a long post but…….you inspired me! :o)

Maybe this is a “to be” list instead of a “to do” list. Coming from being as you suggest, the “doing” would just be natural expressions of those ways of being. Focusing on who you want to be and what you want to create can be more empowering than how we typically approach our list of tasks to do. Seeing them as actions required in the bigger context of what we are out to fulfill on, makes them a lot less daunting. Goes back to your earlier post on the bigger picture. Shift the context from “to do’s” are things to get off our plate to these are actions to take to enable us to fulfill on the life we want.

This has been such an inspirational journey. Some of these things are sticking with me,helping me play my best game on all levels. Thank you Dreama for introducing me to Seth Godin, his quote-
“The way to get unstuck is to start down the wrong path, right now.”- really speaks to me. It applies to my painting and procrastinating about my painting as much as anything. Quang Ho says-“the only mistake you can make in a painting is not to make a decision at all.” All such great advice that I would never know without the Internet. Grateful!

You’ve got such an incredibly special and powerful way with words, Dreama. Today’s post touched me, once again, so very deeply – I found myself welling up with tears while reading it. As you told of you and your dad watching ‘Andy Griffith’ reruns, and the comfort and laughter they gave you against the background of a heavier reality, brought to mind memories of my beloved dad, as well. How he introduced me to jazz music by taking me to jazz clubs and us listening to his jazz records together – specifically, Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk, and also soul music. He loved Philly soul music (he was originally from Philadelphia) – he took me to see so many soul bands when I was a kid. And he signed me up for guitar lessons, piano lessons, flute lessons and even clarinet lessons (he played clarinet and sax when he was a young man).

He shared his deep love of and for all music and specifically jazz and soul music, with me, and now, all these years later, whenever I listen to jazz or soul records, it takes me back to a truly happy, blissful time in my (much) younger life. All I need do is put on Miles’ classic, legendary ‘Kind of Blue’ LP, and my dad and I are right there – together – loving and feeling that amazing music.

I am grateful for those memories – those very special memories. And grateful to the music that brings thos special memories back to me, as if only from moments ago, rather than yearss or even decades ago. Mostly, I am grateful to and for my beloved father. He is even closer to me now, and closer to and within my heart, even though he too left this earthly realm many years ago.

Thank you, Dreama, for reminding me of the Higher Good.

The question is, why is gratitude so difficult to feel. Why do we allow the negative so much power over our lives. And if the negative brings so much angst, why do we feed it. Gratify now, not later. Gratitude should be the first emotion of the day – yet it happens so rarely.

I loved todays writing. It reminded me that I have much to be grateful for, and that I should share myself with others. I was specially grateful for your sharing about your Dad. For the first part of my life, I held everything in and did not share, but after losing my wife and eventually going through analysis, I was able to share with my Dad and it was very liberating. I am ever-so-grateful that my Blackberry contract is finally over and that I bought a new iPhone…..which I’ve been wanting the whole time I had the Blackberry, which was waaay too techie for me!!! I hope this doesn’t sound obnoxious. It’s not meant that way. I’m just so thrilled to be learning ‘all things techie’ that I just wanted to share with all of you who can do all that stuff automatically!

Today’s post is, of course, right on the money…..AGAIN! Now I have learned your secret
To begin to live this life anew
One must open up your heart
To see all life has offered you

    Drift calmly in your thoughts
    Breathe deeply, you will see
    Appreciate each moment
That’s been given you to be

I am grateful for all the wonderful truths you have shared with us this month, esp. the one by Michael Beckwith:
..take the brakes off, throw away the rearview mirror that only sees the past, and live the life you were destined for. You are here to become free and live a life of excellence at all levels. And the world will be better for this because one man, one woman, said “yes” to their soul-character and dared to reach for the unreachable star, to live in the impossible dream.

This is such a beautiful painting, Dreama. I love the way it makes me feel. I picturee myself there. I find peace and serenity there. I find joy there.

I find so much joy in so many things, people, places and experiences, and for that, I am most grateful – for being able to not only find it, but experience those joys when they greet me. My cats fill me with joy (and laughter) every day. My beloved husband fills my heart and my spirit with joy each day…each hour…each moment that we are together. Hearing from and connecting with friends brings me so much joy. Nature fills my spirit with joy and wonderment and humbled amazement at how it all ‘works’.

Art – so many incredibly beautiful expressions of creative intentions from so many artists in this world – which is all of us, come to that. We are all artists, and we all have something unique to express creatively. Art brings me and my little world so much incredible fulfillment and joy.

And music! Music fills my life, my spirit, my heart, my soul and my very being with so much joy and so much pleasure. I cannot imagine my world without the gift and the exquisite pleasure that music offers all of us.

So many things to be grateful for and thankful for, but what they all come under the umbrella is what they bring and what they offer – joy.

Thanks for these beautiful thoughts and words, Dreama. And that glorious painting.ReplyCancel

I want to be outrageous and paint like I have never painted before. It is my birthday and it is time for me to do this. I feel like having the brush in my hand and the brush will create the painting as my inner being will push the brush in the right direction, and the painting will pop with excitement and be just the way it should be… Outrageously creative and a joy to the eye. Have fun, I am so grateful for having fun with my painting. Merry LundReplyCancel

I am grateful for the ability I was given to express emotions and ideals through art, music, and writing. This ability that I believe everyone has brings joy to me and I can see the love and passion it gives you! Really nice work!ReplyCancel
