"Does This Hat Make My Butt Look Big??" SOLD

“Does This Hat Make My Butt Look Big??”
8 x 8in oil on museum quality panel
$350
There has been much preparation going on at my house this week with  Eddie and Phyllis.  Talk of hats, ‘Nip Juleps and which horse to bet on (Derby Kitten, of course).
First Saturday in May.  Derby Day!
“Mr.Ed is making me a ‘custom’ hat to wear and has sworn he will spare no expense.”
Sceptical, I wasn’t about to burst Phyllis’s bubble, but I know Ed and his ideas when it comes to gifting.
“CHEAP”  is what comes to mind.
I was, of course, not to be disappointed.
And here’s where the story took a turn that has had me snickering all day.
When I saw Phyllis don her “custom” hat, before I even had a pang of pity for her bottle cap couture, she asked the question that all males dread….even Eddie.
“Does this hat make my butt look big??”
First time I have ever seen Eddie speechless.  It was a good moment.  One worth savoring over a julep:))

Dreama, this painting is priceless. Phyllis should enter the Derby Hat contest. She would win hands down, but don’t tell Eddie. His head would be so big he couldn’t even get a hat on. The colors are wonderful.ReplyCancel

Like everyone else, every time I read about Eddie and Phyllis, I have to laugh.

BTW, does Edie know that Phyllis actually secretly adores him. She may not tell him in so many words, but we all know, Eddie is her soulmate.

Also, I got involved today, and almost missed the Derby. If it wasn’t for the rat in the big hat, reminding me, I would have missed it. Thanks Phyllis!

I love the two of you. Your creator is fabulous also!ReplyCancel

The great thing about Phyllis’ tail is that it disguises any sign of a big butt.
    Hilarious…and beautiful!ReplyCancel

Thanks Sue! And Kelley–I never make bets with Eddie–it goes down bad either way. You win–he’s a really sore loser. You lose–and the gloating is unbearable…ReplyCancel

You made me smile, thanks. Hope you’re not making bets with Eddie on the Derby. I think he might have some special insights.ReplyCancel

Karen and Marian–you just never know–depends on how cooperative Ed remains for having his painting done…Phyllis is easy..a piece of cheese and I’m in, but Eddie and his demands…sheesh!!
Glad you are enjoying the saga!ReplyCancel

Love it! (any one featuring Eddie is among my favorites!) I just love your lovely, loose brushstrokes and fun use of color. Are you planning to make a book with all the Eddie and Phyllis paintings?ReplyCancel
