THE GREAT GRATITUDE ADVENTURE/ DAY TWENTY-ONE/ UNBIDDEN

When I take a look at life so many, if indeed not all of the best and dearest things I have found  Me.

They are not mine because of my

stressing, fretting, striving, controlling
Or any number of things I have done
To try and shape my life.

It is good to pause and remember

Probably the  best gifts

in  life

Come to us

 Unbidden

I am grateful for my painting talent, when I get stressed I just sit down and paint something beautiful and go into another world.

    Karen Chamblin

  5. When I struggle with too much in my head, it helps to focus on serving others and stopping the mindless chatter. As the hostess of Thanksgiving dinner today, I will do just that and be grateful for those around me. Thanks for the perspective today!

  6. Katherine Baker

It’s still Nov. 21 here in Texas so I hope I can chime in. I had thoughts similar to this blog this morning. As I count my blessings and what I’m grateful for, I realize they have all contributed to “Me”. Friends, family and life experiences (good and not) have shaped who I am today. And I am grateful for all of it.

  7. Just had to add—a whopping 140 of you still managed to share what you were grateful for today in spite of how busy you were. Top of the mind awareness of being grateful—you are awesome!

  8. Happy, Delightful Thanksgiving to Everyone!!
I know many of you are putting in long hours of cooking to shower the people in your life with love—you are the thread that weaves life together!! Take a moment for yourself to savor the beauty of life as it is.
Big Hugs from the Eddies and I to you:)))

How I love reading and sharing in the lives of each of you—it is awesome!

    Big Hugs! xoxoxoxoxo

Today I’m thankful that my nursing work is done, and tomorrow is Thanksgiving. So much to be thankful for.

  25. Today I am thankful that my oven is working and seems ready to cook my meal tomorrow – one year my oven broke the day before Thanksgiving…but DH went into emergency mode and got it fixed. I was thankful then, too! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Today I am grateful for the gift of my daughter – I was only ever able to have one child and I feel so blessed everytime I look at her. She is 16 now and we have just got back from the school awards ceremony where she won the award for art and another as the School role model. I am grateful for her love and wish her happiness always

Many of my beloved cats came to me in just that way – unexpected precious little gifts that I found in our backyard, or while out walking, or the most recent time, just two weeks after our beloved cat Mollie passed away and we were both heartbroken, a little black kitten seemed to come to my husband and I, out of thin air (or perhaps Mollie sent him to us) and pretty much adopted us from that moment. We’d told ourselves that after Mollie, and the heartbreak of losing her, that we probably wouldn’t be adopting another cat for a very long time, if ever again, and that our two other cats would adjust without their beloved sister cat, Mollie. But this little determined kitten just popped into our lives and have helped us so much with the deep sadness of Mollie’s death. Our little Phillo was then, and is still today, very much an unexpected, precious, unbidden gift, and I am so grateful that he’s here with us.

Today, I’m grateful for finding out about another Christmas craft fair that I’ll be able to set up a table at, plus the phone call I received this morning from someone who requested I do a commissioned piece for her.

  28. I am thankful that I got all my prep work done today for the big meal tomorrow.

  29. Today I am grateful to my husband for him stepping up to the plate since I am nursing a broken right arm. He scrubbed the bathrooms, laundered the throw rugs and mopped the kitchen and the entrance floors. He also baked an apple pie. xoxo

  30. I’m grateful for sunshine & blue skies ~

Time to be grateful for waffles and ice cream at the beach, and parents to share such marvellous things with. Big Bay was turquoise and sparkling, and punctuated with kites. A stiff breeze and heavy swell… magic!

  33. Jolene Gailey

I am grateful to have woken up so happy this morning because of having had a good day the day before; which included painting, against all odds. Sometimes I have to fight so hard to be able to paint. I pulled if off easily yesterday and it felt good, so good that it carried over into today.

  34. I am grateful for yoga class and my awesome yoga teacher who is 72! What an inspiration!

One of our family traditions is to go around the table and reflect upon the prior year, give thanks to God for the many blessings we’ve received. Does your family have a similar tradition for Thanksgiving? I am grateful for having this opportunity to express my gratefulness to everyone of You, My painting friends. Merry Lund

  46. Today I am especially thankful for this beautiful late fall weather here in Colorado. Light jacket, slightly brisk, instead of snow. Clear and crisp and blue skies. A real treat for mid November.

  47. Gratitude for day 21 just happens to be pay day! Never ungrateful on pay day…

  48. First, I want to comment on what Bruce Bingham said in her post – which I always enjoy reading. Today she made mention of her little goldfish that change color so there is no division of color among the fish, and it made me think how wonderful it would be if all humans were goldfish and achieved that same ‘un-division’.

For today, my most memorable ‘unbidden’ came the day my friend suggested that I ‘try painting’ if I really loved it!! Talk about ‘unbidden’!! It came out of the blue and has changed my life entirely. Gotta love all things ‘unbidden’!!

  49. I agree Dreama! Many of the best things in my life have found me! The first two things are our CATS! They found us when we lived in AUstin, TX! Now as displaced Texans in BC Canada…I think they have 2nd thoughts whenever winter rolls in! I am grateful that they found us there though!

  50. Dreama, today I am thankful for “You” and your inspiring words.

I am thankful for having this day to paint another watercolor to give away. After quite a number of years of selling paintings, I find it a greater blessing to be able to give pieces of pleasure to others.

  88. I’m grateful for our three cats, all of whom came to us ‘unbidden’. All were rescues, whose rescuers asked us to take them in. And we did, even after saying “no more animals!” But we love them all, and would never want to let them go now.

  89. So true, Dreama – so thank you for the reminder to be thankful for pets that found ME, over the years. One was another Eddie — he swaggered like Edward G. Robinson but was the sweetest pup ever. What can I say…thanks!

  98. I am grateful for my special, now adult, son. In a visit yesterday, someone is back in our lives, with a career change…because he is a life changer. To hear how he has changed people’s lives is a gift, I know he is.

My dog, Jessy, walked into my life unbidden, She lived next door, a puppy to an ealderly lady. She had so much energy and longed to play. I offered to walk her daily as the lady could not. She wormed her way into my heart and when the lady decieded to keep a cat instead, she offered Jessy to me. That was 5 years ago and she is my joy every day. Yvonne Ankerman

    • Margene

Yvonne your work is amazing, I can not decide whick I like best your Bold wild strokes . or your beautiful soft watercolors. Thanks to Dreama I was able to experience your art. thanks to you both.

  116. Holly Rose

It’s so very true, the very best has come to me unbidden. The fateful night I walked to Good Company, a coffee shop and eatery in Daytona Beach, to try and retrieve an unpleasant day. And into my space walked my life partner, Tom, who has been enriching my life for 33 years and counting.

  117. Goldfish. Not the kind you eat. I inherited them with the Maltese house I’m living in. They were an unbidden treat, did you know they change color? Subtly, slowly, and over time they are not divided by color, now they are all golden.

  118. I am grateful for – and should not take for granted… food, shelter, family and freedom.
We need to notice what we have got and appreciate everything XX
