There is beauty before me and there is beauty behind me.
There is beauty to my left and there is beauty to my right.
There is beauty above me and there is beauty below me.
There is beauty around me and there is beauty within me.

“I once read a commentary on the painter Degas that said, ‘He had a great talent for discovering beauty’.  Not creating beauty, or reproducing it, but discovering it.  That was the first time I realized that an artist’s real contribution isn’t what he paints, but the way he sees.”

It’s Your Turn!!

Take a moment, as you read this, to look around in your immediate space to see what beauty is there, in this moment,  just waiting for your eyes to discover it.  Is the steam rising from your cup of coffee?  The beauty of a handwritten note?  Sunshine designs on your bare floor?  What is it?? You can share it with me if you like,  by clicking here:))

Pre-dawn walks with my husband with the moon shining brightly through the trees and the owls hooting in the distance-this brings joy to my soul.ReplyCancel

I see beauty in my daughter’s smile, the soft tuffts of a cat’s ears, wild flowers breaking through the cracks of the pavement, an old couple still holding hands, the grey seas of my North East coastline, there’s so much….ReplyCancel

Watching my 3 month old puppy chase a leaf as the wind tosses it around- such a simple thing but so beautiful.

New to your blog – love your paintings and am inspired to try oils again ( after years as a watercolorist) Thank you!ReplyCancel

I was just going to tell you about the sweet birdsong as I sit on my front porch – the view is too obvious… everyone who drives by is awed, but the sounds… and THEN my orange cat Harry pranced up onto the porch with a tiny sparrow in his mouth – hence the ‘birdsong’ I heard by his friends…. UGH. OK, OK… there’s more beauty here! The lovely soft patterns of the reflections on my “Swedish Grace” coffee cup…ReplyCancel

Morning walk alone along the San Francisco waterfront. The smell of the bay, baskets filled with an abundance of colorful flowers adorn the light posts. I stop to watch a long-necked bird dive into the water for many seconds……then rising up with a little fish in its long beak……breakfast! Later, arriving home to two nests filled with tiny new birds, chirping away. Taking the time to notice is vital to being present. The earth is a gift for all to treasure. Thanks for getting this out there Dreama.ReplyCancel

Paula–thanks so much for the strong visual you created with words. I love that you shared this because it just adds to the story of all the beauty we all share in a thousand moments a day!ReplyCancel

I SEE BEAUTY EACH MORNING AS I SIT ON MY PATIO HAVING MY QUIET TIME…
THE SUNLIGHT ON A DEW DROP, ON A SPIDER’S WEB,
ON MY IMPATIENS SHOWING OFF THEIR IRIDESCENT PETALS AND THE VELVET BEAUTY OF MY RED GERANIUMS.
GOD IS SO GOOD TO GIVE US SUCH BEAUTY TO ENJOY!

I look around me and the most beautiful thing is your photo on the monitor. The sun rises behind the mountains here in Las Cruces, and every morning is a delight…but I do not have Eddie Pierre to add to the beauty. I envy you, Dreama.ReplyCancel

I see beauty in the geraniums blooming outside my studio window, even though we have had several 100 degree days in a row. I see beauty in the birds walking around in the front yard. They look like they are having a tea party, chirping and eating pecans, or something; whole families are out there.ReplyCancel

Thanks Pat–pretty amazing what is there, under our collective noses, just waiting for us to notice:))!ReplyCancel

  • Callie - August 5, 2012 - 5:46 am

I always love early morning when I am the only one up in the house and the house is so peaceful and I am sipping on my first cup of coffee. There is beauty in stillness. And when I drive to work as the sun is rising and watch the sky burst into color from black to dark blue to sky blue, orange, and pink mixed with white and grey clouds, there is beauty in that, too. Sometimes we are so focused on minutiae and the troubles of the moment that we miss the beauty around us.ReplyCancel

    • Dreama Tolle Perry - August 5, 2012 - 11:33 am

Callie–this is so beautiful. Beauty in stillness says so much:))!
Thanks for taking the time to write and bring us into your vision for a moment!ReplyCancel
