A Word About Satisfaction
Satisfy.
A word with you about… a word.
Satisfy.
The painting you see here felt satisfying to create.
I could feel it in my body.
Grounding, worthy and true.
Worth reaching for.
Deeply and completely felt.
Satisfying.
Walt Whitman said,
‘Reach for satisfying moments because whatever satisfies the soul is truth.’
Satisfying.
Earthy, as tangible as any emotion could ever be, filling up spaces in us that we didn’t realize were there.
A morning glory at my window satisfies me….
~ Walt Whitman
Satisfying…what an awesome ‘feeling’ word.
When we sit at the table, there is more going on than satisfying hunger….linger under the many spells offered by a good meal—the satisfaction of our hearts, our minds, and our spirits.
~ Leo Buscaglia
Satisfy.
Seek out some soul-satisfying moments for yourself this day. Let me know how it goes in the comments below!
Note on the painting shown above: Maybe it was the linen’s natural color, maybe the colors themselves, or maybe the delight of allowing the strokes to unfold into open-ended possibilities of playful moments. Whatever it was, I recognize satisfaction when I feel it. I ended up recreating this one for my Flow peeps so they could perhaps dip into their own satisfied feelings. If you’d like to know more, you can get on the waitlist for our next opening of Flow on April 4th!
Today the sun is shining, the winds have abated, even though my sinuses are kicking, I sat outside with my face exposed to the glorious warmth of the sun, I felt myself relax and instantly I came up with an idea of what to make for dinner!!! Actually two meals. Leftover turkey made into homemade soup and homemade turkey pot pie! 😋
Ahhhhh….we need those moments in the sunshine more than we realize!❤️
Yesterday was satisfying for me. I haven’t painted for months due to an issue with my eyes. I accepted a commission but was procrastinating out of fear, I was rusty and my confidence was low. Yesterday I gave my inner critic a pep talk and decided to paint and it felt so good! Just stepping into my studio filled me with happy anticipation. Joy has been my word for the past few years, and yesterday reminded me that painting is my greatest source of joy and the only way to reach that joy is to push past the fear.
So beautifully stated Jane!❤️❤️❤️
