General FAQ’s

Questions….I get questions:))

Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked.

1.  What colors/brands do you use?

Mostly Winsor & Newton brand with a few Old Holland, Rembrandt and Richeson colors thrown in:

Indian Yellow
Cad Yellow
Cad Lemon
Cad Orange
Purple Dioxazine
Ultramarine Blue
Sap Green
Ice Blue (Shiva-Richeson)
Permanent Rose
Transparent Red Medium (Rembrandt)
Caribbean Blue (Old Holland)
Transparent Oxide Orange (Rembrandt)
Transparent Oxide Brown(Rembrandt)

2.  What’s your favorite brush?

I have several that I truly love but if I had to be stranded on a dessert isle with only two things, I’d have to pick the Winsor and Newton Monarch Number 14 Flat.

And Brad Pitt.

3.  Who’s Eddie?

9 pounds of bad attitude, fur and whiskers posing as a loving pet that lives with, on, and in spite of me.  He is a favorite subject to paint (I have no idea why) along with his faithful side-kick, Phyllis the Mouse.

4.  How do you sign your paintings?

Very carefully.

Seriously, while they are dripping wet I sign my name using a little thing called the Kemper Wipe Out tool.  Works like a charm:))

5.  Do you photograph your own work and if so, what kind of camera do you use?

Yes, I’m a point and shoot girl with a good camera:))– a Nikon 3200D.

6.  What easel do you like best?

I have a wooden “H” type easel for my home studio which I have shabby chicified:))

For travel, my hands down favorite is the Coulter Plein Air System, mid size.  It has hung out in  France, Italy and more with me.  It weighs less than Eddie (see question #3) and fits easily into my carry on luggage.

7.  Do you ever sleep?

I hang out with Eddie a lot, so I think you know the answer to that already—cat napping being one of my favoritest things to do on the planet.

8.  Do you have a DVD?

No–I’ve got something better.  It’s my online workshop, Dream.Love.Paint.  It’s like me moving in with you and painting with you—minus me eating your groceries.  I consider it a win/win 😉  You can learn more about it AND see what a bunch of the awesome peeps who’ve taken have to say about it.  Just click here.

9.  How old is Eddie?

In case you hadn’t noticed, Eddie is vain.  He doesn’t like to share that info—he won’t even say which of his nine lives he’s on.

10. Do you really have a dog? And how does Eddie feel about this?

Yes, a lovable little pound puppie named Maggie. She and hubby Ron are BFFs.  Eddie loves Ron and for that reason manages to “tolerate the foul little beast” (Eddie’s words, not mine.)

Hi Dreama. My heart jumped when I got a google search suggestion for ‘Dreama Tolle Perry DVD’ but of course it was just a tease. I too would love a DVD or downloadable videos of your technique. I live in Ireland and had hoped to get to your French workshop in 2015 but just found out there won’t be one. I watched the videos of your last trip and it looked like heaven. A DVD would be a poor second and I would still be interested in France, but in the meantime please give it some thought. You would make a very watchable and inspiring (cue shameless licking up!) DVD instructor ;)). All the best. ColetteReplyCancel

    Hello Dreama,
I found you on the WWW only two weeks ago. I have visited you there every day since. I love your style and the fabulous art it manifests itself in. My dream would be to be able to paint something within 100 miles of what you create. I am very depressed that all your workshops for this year are full. In the meantime I am trying get there next year.
I keep imagining the joy of owning a video of what you paint and how you paint it. I notice lots of others have requested videos.
Thanks for giving me much joy and beauty to enjoy if only from cyber space.
I live near Joe Miller(cheap Joe). I would love for you to do an “OIL” workshop at his place.

Hi Dreama! My bestie and I are avid oil painters but your posts from France have us wanting to try watercolors again! What kind of pen and ink do you use for your drawings for your watercolors? Thanks! And thanks for all the great posts!ReplyCancel

It’d be absolutely fantabulous if you’d put out a DVD. So many people (myself included) who haven’t yet experienced the fun and the joy and the person-to-person inspiration that is there at all your brilliant workshops, would be able to have a little a little time with you via the DVD.

Please say you will! Or at least, give it some serious consideration.

Lovely to see little Maggie (she is adorable!) and the hubster (who is also adorable, lol).

One last thing – I’m sure it’s probably right in front of my eyes, but I can’t seem to find the gratitude drop box. I wanted to post something today…I’ll keep looking, though. There’s so many goodies in your new website that I’ll have quite an enjoyable time just looking and browsing while I’m searching.ReplyCancel

You mentioned your colors up there as question number one. Wonderful! Most asked question I bet!
So, have you switched to water soluble oils or are you using regular oils?
If regular, what medium/s do you use?

    Thanks again! 🙂 DonnaReplyCancel

Thanks Christi! The website is the result of efforts by several people—my daughter Desiree being one of the key people. She understood my vision and helped me place together the right components to get the look and functionality I was wanting. I learned that being able to skillfully articulate what your vision IS (and sticking with it) can be as important as the vision itself:))ReplyCancel
