"Art, Family, and All That Jazz"

Some things just get better as the years roll by.  Take my sister Rhonda….please.

Kidding!!  That’s she and I in the photo above–pre Eddie days:))

As a kid, riding along with her in the back seat of the car, I can see her yet–face leaned against the glass, humming to herself, tapping her foot, wrapped up in a world all her own.

Today, to my delight, I get a humble little email in my box containing a recording demo….

More tapping and humming–this time accompanied by guitarist Jeremy Tolle.
Recorded by Thomas Skidmore.

Vocals by, of course, my sis, Rhonda Tolle Beaman.

My sis and her sons make me happy— I am thrilled to share their gifts with you:))

Like all great things…they are each, one of kind.

Hit play…I think you’re gonna like it.

P.S.  I had to create a video for the music, so it’s a free trip to Italy and France by way of my paintings;)  No passport needed.   Many of the images featured have been made into fine art prints, available at Dreama’s Print Shop (click here).

P.S.S.  Two spots have just opened up at my workshop in Whidbey Island, WA in March.  I only have a few spaces left for the whole year, so if you would like to paint with me this year, contact Cary Jurriaans.  To read more about it, click here.

I knew you would like her:)) Dave–I can’t believe your comment. What southern accent are you talking about??? Don’t let her smooth jazz tones fool you–she can sing bluegrass tunes with the best of them:)) All I can say is my sister escaped and has been in Germany for the last 9 years–maybe that’s what it takes to lose an accent:)))!
And June–I am going to have to check out the band you mentioned–sounds wonderful. Thanks so much–you always leave the nicest comments–and said nothing about my accent (tee hee)

And Dave–I will allow you to miss my workshop since you are studying with Daniel Keys–what a guy–we had him on the AHA show and he seems super nice, along with the fact he can’t paint like crazy!

And to Debi and Sarah and all of you wonderful friends–thanks so much for taking the time to write–I will be sure my sis reads all of these!!!

Dreama, this is wonderful! What a talented and gifted family you all are! I love this kind of jazz – the Brazil-meets-Paris, sweet yet cool, breezy kind of feeling. As I’ve posted on the video on YT’s comments area, it reminds me quite a lot of The Style Council – one of my favourte bands. Ever heard ‘The Paris Match’ or ‘Down in the Seine’ or ‘My Ever Changing Moods’ or ‘You’re the Best Thing’? That’s the Style Council – pop meets jazz meets very, very cool, by way of Paul Weller – one of my all-time favourite singer/songwriters extraordinaire.

But I digress. this is wonderful. Both Rhonda’s lovely and breezy vocals plus the beautiful jazz guitar stylings of Jeremy. I’m really impressed. If they have a CD coming out, and it’s music as gorgeous as this…sign me up!

Thanks for sharing this, Dreama. I think I’m going to click on it once again and be transported back to that little Parisienne cafe I remember with much affection.ReplyCancel

Love everything about this! Love the jazz – want more, and of course, love your paintings! What a special production to have for your family :))ReplyCancel

Hey, how come Rhonda doesn’t have a southern accent? 😉 Very nicely done song and video.

I would love to come Whidbey Island for a workshop, but my first half year workshop (budget) is taken up by Daniel Keys in a couple of weeks in Scottsdale. Maybe next time.ReplyCancel
