One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was the admonition to never wait for someone else to decide what would make my birthday special. They said I should take some thought and decide for myself how to celebrate it.
I remembered their words and that particular year I had myself a cake made that simply said….
Happy Birthday to Wonderful Me!
Now admittedly, I got some strange looks from the girls at the bakery (actually looks of pity as I recall, as in “poor thing, she’s a little bit wacky” :))
but I learned a great lesson. It was one of the best birthdays ever because I had changed how I looked at it. The job of celebrating me was first and foremost my job:))
Since then I have relished any and every occasion to celebrate:))
There is no need to wait for an occasion to celebrate your life.
