I penned these thoughts awhile back and rediscovered them today. I thought they might stir your thinking..they are thoughts on writing, which also cover thoughts on painting and anything creative that we are doing.
Wherever you see the words about writing, insert that thing you are doing and see what crosses your mind 🙂
*Whatever your way of getting in touch with your source or higher self—-do that as part of your writing ritual.
*Trust that your thoughts, your ideas, are as worthy and as noble as any that have ever been written.
*Write for those who love you and for those you love and for the kind of people you’d love to know.
*Write to one individual and write as though the whole world will read it.
*Add joy —what good words (or things) can be spoken that benefit, uplift and encourage.
*Write what you’d like to read.
*Write from your heart.
*Write about the things that truly intrigue and ignite your passions—whatever they may be.
And a few words from my friend Emerson “But take Sidney’s maxim: — “Look in thy heart, and write.” He that writes to himself writes to an eternal public.” —in other words, when you write to yourself, you are writing your truth and truths are eternal and connect us all 🙂
“A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within,….. Yet he dismisses without notice his thought, because it is his. In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts…” ~Emerson
“To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, — that is genius. “ ~Emerson
Note: I love how interchangeable all of our creative manifestations are. What applies to one is usually applicable to the other and working in one can inspire beauty in the other 🙂 What do you think?
P.S. If you missed it, you can still get your name in the hat for the petite handmade watercolor journal I carried back from Europe 😉 just click here.
I’m also giving away a spot in the September 6 opening for my online workshop, Dream.Love.Paint., and the scoop on that is here 🙂
