During the Creative Process
Just Add Lemons and Rain
The view out my back door
Lemons in my water
Cow creamer filled with tiny blooms
Swing in my tree
These things have set a tone for my days.
I’d forgotten how much simple lemon perks up my glass of water.
Refreshing!
The table of flowers, ‘leftovers’ from an outdoor photoshoot on Monday, hastily placed there Thursday to avoid a coming rain. The view ended up shifting my whole morning and became the prompting behind this post you are now reading.
All manner of things tend to our souls, imparting their knowing way—reminding us that everything is going to be okay.
This week of small things that filled my heart in big ways led to this painting.
It’s juicy, exuberant chaos—and includes, in no particular order, things I love.
My antique French daybed, a vintage chandelier, fragrant peonies, and my fringed market umbrella.
The experience of painting was spontaneous and needed.
As we each feel our way through these times, I’m wishing you so many delightful small joys, showing themselves to you each and every day, tending to your heart and soul.
Try adding a slice or two of lemon to your glass of water and see where it leads next–you never know how one simple choice can shift how you feel in the very next moment!
As I ended with my writing, a gentle rain has moved in. Showering everything and adding it’s voice to the peace of the day.
When in doubt, lemons and rain seem to have some answers 😉
You are loved, my friend!
