Creating

Just a few thoughts on creating  that I jotted down. I have so lived this stuff out. Maybe you have too. At any rate, I thought it worth sharing so here you go…

Living in fear of failure
we seek to avoid making stuff
but the want doesn’t leave

It haunts us
Crawls in bed with us late at night
And wakes us early morn with its gnawing

We cannot leave it alone
And for sure it never leaves us alone

And so we make
We work through the not so goods and total flops

We question
Why do we still yet want to make something???

We are confused, surprised, annoyed, even angry
But still, here we are and there it is
That dang desire to make something

And then we get it
It’s who we are

We are someone who makes things
We lose ourselves in the making
We find ourselves in the making

It is
the making of us

And it’s then that we discover
That this thing comforts us at night
And wakes us early morn with a passion for life

We cannot leave it alone
And are ecstatic that it never leaves us alone

And so we make
And we see that it is joyful

We question
How is that we get to make stuff???

We are purposed, expectant, happy, even exuberant
Here we are and there IT is
That never-ending desire to make something

We get it
It’s who we are

We are someone who makes things
We lose ourselves in the making
We find ourselves in the making

It is
the making of us
