If you read my last letter, just skip to the Love Letter below! If not, keep reading to know why you’re getting a love letter from me.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you won’t be surprised to know that I share things from my writing journals. Often times things that I’ve written to myself end up being something that reveals some truths. And the truth is universal, so I end up sharing them with you.
That’s why I am sending you love letters! If you’re just now reading these, please know the others are on my site here.
These are lifted from the letters I wrote to myself back in 2019. I had little to no objectivity on them at the time. They were just something I felt like doing, so I did.
I came across them while sorting things in my office. And found myself stirred by the letters and felt that they weren’t just written for me.
Love Letter 12
Flow little heart. Open up. Allow. Relax. Breathe. Listen. Focus.
Let go of trying to work out details. That’s my work. Your work is that of allowing yourself to truly experience…
challenge without the stress
doing absent of guilt
Experiencing each moment for what it is.
And what exactly is the work you do if you remove guilt, fear, worry, stress from it?
What could it feel like if you did the work and left off pressure, expectations?
What if you put no ‘story’ on the work at all?
What if you stepped into the flow and went wherever it carried you?
Might you find, little one, that you noticed the sunshine, that you felt the gentleness of the breeze that caressed your cheek?
Your authentic life, your true life—exists in the flow.
You’ve been taught that work should feel hard, be hard, else you’re not working hard enough!
Flow asks nothing of you. It’s already in motion. Rather than resist—it invites you to leave behind the details, to cast off the tension you’ve learned to carry.
Flow takes you, she carries you. She rocks you gently.
She does the work in order that you might do yours.
And what is your work little one? What is it indeed if not to love this life and the things in it just a little more each day.
To see and taste and touch and smell and hear the all, the I AM, the presence that is you—looking back at you.
‘Open your heart, fling your hopes high, set your dreams aloft. I am here to hold your hand.’
~ Maya Angelou
P.S. Risky business. This thing of writing and sending it out. If I let fear stop me, you have no idea how many missives of mine would have never seen the light of day. I don’t get it right always—maybe only a very small percentage of the time. But I believe in following my heart which often seems to involve…taking chances. That is life. If this letter resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you—you can leave a comment just below.
P.P.S. You may be feeling inspired to do this for yourself. You know, get quiet and write a letter to YOU. It’s your higher self speaking to your regular old self. It knows so much more and finds it very easy to fall in love with …YOU!
