During the creative process – your beautiful space.
The thing about immersion is it can only mean one thing. You are actually in the present moment! You aren’t multi-tasking, your mind isn’t racing ahead to where you need to be next and you are not handling yesterday’s conversations in your mind. You are front and center for YOUR LIFE. Which is where, curiously enough, all the magic happens 😉
When it crosses your mind to wonder ‘how long did it take…’ flip the question. Ask yourself why you feel like you need to know. If it’s because that you fear the odds are stacked against you just remember this.
Words are like food. They can be powerful, debilitating, liberating, limiting, infused with energy, sorrowful, joyful, expressive and at the right time…. renewing. I find I need words in my life to steer me. To bring to remembrance what matters, what is real, and what is TRUTH.
View your life from 10,000 feet. Allow yourself to dream. Grow into your dreams. When one is fulfilled, there are more to follow.
Come drink from my well. It is full at the moment. Next year may bring rains, it may be dry—we share the abundance we have as we have it and no one goes without.
We can only answer to that which calls to us.
I had so much pleasure in painting this Tuscan scene. The painting was left behind. The experience was not. The pleasure is in the moment, in the painting, in the journey. “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end” ~Ernest Hemingway
We need deep breaths and no agendas and time to absorb and ponder what ifs. We need space. Empty space. We need to not do for awhile so that when we DO show up we are thinking clear.
This truth is evident for all forms of creativity. Don’t ‘save’ the dress, the canvas, the vintage dinnerware or the handmade journal. Use them each day to fully express that day of living.
In stillness, we find ourselves beginning to listen. And as Eckart Tolle so eloquently put it, stillness speaks. It speaks of truth. It speaks of things the chaotic mind has no awareness of. Out of that awareness comes your clarity, your knowing, and your inspiration.
