Allow goodness to wash the fear that would cloud your eyes…
If you read my last letter, just skip to the Love Letter below! If not, keep reading to know why you’re getting a love letter from me.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you won’t be surprised to know that I share things from my writing journals. Often times things that I’ve written to myself end up being something that reveals some truths. And truth is universal, so I end up sharing them with you.
That’s why I am sending you love letters! If you’re just now reading these, please know the others are on the site:
These are lifted from the letters I wrote to myself back in 2019. I had little to no objectivity on them at the time. They were just something I felt like doing, so I did.
I came across them today while sorting things in my office. As often happens when supposedly working, I ended up flopping in a chair reading.
And I found myself stirred by the letters and felt that they weren’t just written for me.
Love Letter 7
Give yourself one song, one line, one page, a single thought.
Allow its goodness to wash the fear that would cloud your eyes.
See the perfection in the smallest thing. Let its perfection remind you that you are perfect too. You cannot be improved upon. There is no rejection waiting to happen or appear.
Look for the perfection within. See how your heart leaps at every good thing? How music is so delicious—how good writing causes your pulse to race? This is your perfect self making itself felt. Look for evidence everywhere. You will be overwhelmed. It is there in every glance, every water droplet, every ray of light, every violin pluck, EVERYTHING.
Your perfection looks back at you.
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
~ Dr. Seuss
P.S. Risky business. This thing of writing and sending it out. If I let fear stop me, you have no idea how many missives of mine would have never seen the light of day. I don’t get it right always—maybe only a very small percentage of the time. But I believe in following my heart which often seems to involve…taking chances. That is life. If this letter resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you—you can leave a comment just below.
P.P.S. You may be feeling inspired to do this for yourself. You know, get quiet and write a letter to YOU. It’s your higher self speaking to your regular old self. It knows so much more and finds it very easy to fall in love with …YOU!
I have enjoyed these Love letters so much! I’m so glad you shared them. Never stop!
Beautiful! Thanks for sending your love and inspiration to your students!🙏🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
I too look within for love, quiet, perfection and daily guidance. The advice from Dr. Seuss is scary for me as when I lose someone because of what I have said,I feel sad. I still have a ways to go in my learning.
“See the perfection in the smallest thing.” This does resonate. I’m homebound for a while after a major back surgery and I have a plethora of fresh flowers from friends. I am working on the idea of enlarging a sketchbook painting of those flowers (drawn from life), onto a full-size canvas, in oil. I am trying to decide how I could render each individual “perfect” flower in a unique way, by studying the actual “perfect” construction of the flower, and making the artistic choice of abstracting that in paint. But I do want the essence of each flower’s perfection to come through in the painted flower. I need to remember that whatever I paint, it will be perfect, just the way it is. Still I want the painted image to be as fresh as the model flowers on the day they were cut.
Thanks Dreama for always touching my heart.
