Before the Creative Process
THE GREAT GRATITUDE ADVENTURE/ DAY TWENTY-NINE/ TO DO LIST
1. Go Within
Trust is within ourselves; it takes no rise from outward things, whate’er you may believe.
there is an inmost centre in us all,
Where truth abides in fulness; and around,
Wall upon wall, the gross flesh hems it in,
This perfect, clear perception—which is truth.
A baffling and perverting carnal mesh
Binds it, and makes all error;
and , to KNOW,
Rather consists in opening out a way
Whence the imprisoned splendor may escape,
Than in effecting entry for a light
Supposed to be without.
2. Be Still and Know
…it is silence that will lead you into profound stillness, and it is stillness that attunes you to the still, small voice of intuitive guidance.
There is a guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening we shall hear the right word.
All true artists, whether they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind, from inner stillness.
3. Take Your Foot Off the Brake
The only decision you have to make is the decision to begin. The decisions “what to do” and “which way to go” should not be made; they should be discovered.
..take the brakes off, throw away the rearview mirror that only sees the past, and live the life you were destined for.
4. Give Thanks
“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.”
5. Live With JOY
Pleasure is always derived from something outside you, whereas joy arises from within
6. Stay Present
Now is all there is, and the future is just another present moment to live when it arrives.
Now is all there is, and the future is just another present moment to live when it arrives.
7. Let Love Guide You
To love is to recognize yourself in another.
8. Exercise Trust
You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.
I AM GREATFUL FOR MY FAMILY.WE LIVE TOGETHER THREE GENERATIONS OF US. IT’S AMAZING TO HAVE THIS MUCH TIME WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN.AND I LOVE YOUR BLOG WHICH CAME TO ME TODAY.
Grateful for a month of gratitude with everyone.
Heavy rains pelting the windows.
Winds downing leaves and clogging drains.
But inside it’s warm and peaceful.
A warm dry home is a gift everyone should have.
I am truly grateful for mine.
Fran C. San Francisco

Thanks for my daughter in law
I am grateful for the SC weather. We have so many sunny days to get out and enjoy walks and talks.
I am grateful that I am able to be present in the moment. These past 14 and a half years have taught me that. Though it was really a specific moment in time that clarified it for me. Then just practice practice practice. But the being grateful for each living breathing moment no matter how painful, no matter how wonderful, no matter how boring, no matter how just there it is. That is what I am grateful for.
I am grateful for a God who knows me and loves me!
Today I am grateful for the internet -what an amazing source of inspiration!! However, my lack of time control is an issue -I get all inspired and by then there is little time to actually make it into the studio 🙁

I am grateful to having a happy and supportive team enviroment at my work.
I’m thankful for all the people that ART has brought into my life over the past 8 years… new friends to paint with, and many artists I’ve discovered online by trolling for images that reach out and inspire me. That includes Dreama! 😉
I’m thankful for receiving your beautiful paintings every day. Did you know that your cat and my cat could be twins?!
I am grateful for the little moments when an angel helps me to connect the dots…..the ‘Aha moments”, when you look at your life and say wow, now I get it, just for today…….
I am thankful to have been a part of a most inspirational journey to restore my inner self. Thanks a million,Dreama.

Today I am thankful for Dreama’s generosity in sharing her inspiration and making so many people happy with the wonderful gifts she has given each day of November. It has been something I’ve looked forward to each day and she has certainly made a difference in my life by doing this! Hugs, Dreama!
One of the reasons I am most grateful is that I am married to my best friend. 30 years and he still makes me laugh 🙂
A very frazzled shopper at BB&B complained to strangers about “so much money being spent for just one day” (Christmas). Today I am thankful that our family is doing a Secret Santa (buying for only one person with a set $ amount). It’s been fun this year!
Fran C. – San Francisco
I so very much needed and am grateful for this very special and important to-do list. This entire month of gratitude has been so inspiring, so uplifting, so encouraging. But also, it is so very special because it’s from you, from your heart and from your generous and loving spirit.

I am grateful that yesterday I had one on one time with my daughter.
Today I am grateful for uplifting music and the ability to hear it!
Today I am grateful for having the freedom of self expression. There are many who do not have that freedom around the world to say what we want, write want we want and paint what we want.
I’m thankful that I don’t fall into the trap of “I don’t have enough time” to paint or be creative. I hear that a lot from artists or in general and wonder how much time that person spends watching tv and on the internet. 🙂 i’m grateful I carve out time to do the things that really matter to me.
I am grateful for the opportunity we have present always…that is to pray to God.
Grateful for friends! The seeds in the garden of life!
I am grateful that I recently became very aware that most artists, if not all, sense a connection with God when they perform their craft. This is probably the most exciting realization possible.
I’m grateful to be learning to play the piano my mother and aunt learned on. I am grateful to my Grandmother “Nana” (who was from Ft. Thomas, KY) who gave me the piano. I am also grateful to have a wonderful piano teacher and friend in Arleen!
Today I’m most thankful for my new phone& my husband who bought it for me! I have had several phones in the past but I couldn’t figure them out. This phone is “user friendly” and put my in touch with you first thru a simple “friend request from me”. With this artist friendly phone with “icons” I found myself” blogging” for the first time. I have only known Dreama since. November. 21st or so. I love waking up to find what wonderful words of wisdom and beautiful colorful painting to inspire me for the day. You are a precious gift from above to many people. To quote Robert Schuller”God loves you and so do I.” Thank you Nancy Piros
I am grateful for Lilly Rose, who squeezes in
the chair next to me while sending this email
(she likes looking at the pin up photos of
Eddie haha)… but most of all, grateful for

Grateful for the late round of golf yesterday to see the sun set over the San Jacinto mountains and watch the sky turn every shade of purple, lavender and pink you would ever want to paint. The mountains are breathtakingly beautiful.
Maybe that is why Dr. Seuss said,”You’re off to great places, today is the day; your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!

I am thankful for Christmas songs, they give me good feelings and memories of my childhood growing up. Another thing I am grateful this morning is that I love waking up in the mornings after good dreams of being in my grand parent’s homes.
I am grateful for such a BEAUTIFUL morning, today’s post and for you. You are a bright spot for so many people with your positive attitude and words of encouragement. It takes so much time just to put together a blog but you have taken yours a step further. You have filled it with love, commitment and effort and you have done it well. And now you have topped yourself by actively getting others to join in and become aware of the things in their lives for which they are grateful but that we usually just take for granted. And todays quotes were just what I needed. They reminded me to let go and let God.
I would in turn like to leave you with a quote from one of the smartest and most influential women in my life, my grandmother. One of the many things she used to tell me was, “Don’t ever feel sorry for yourself because no matter how bad you have it there is always someone that is worse off than you and you don’t have to look very far to find them.” ~ Mary Boor And after all these years she still helps me to keep my life in perspective.
So thank you for the morning inspiration. What a way to start the day! :o) (Sorry this is such a long post but…….you inspired me! :o)

I am thankful for a sunny morning at home, perfect for painting.
Today I’m grateful for the nurses and cna’s that take care of my mother. She has been in a nursing home for 7 yrs and her health is slowly deteriorating. Without the attention and care of the staff I would not have the time I have had with her.
I’m grateful that both of my children are married to ( and will marry) their best friends.
Wow – #3 is my favorite today! Thanks for these reminders. Today I am thankful for a warm bed to sleep in each night, a bed that I know the mattress and the pillow for optimum rest and the warmth of the blankets – and the warmth of my DH and my critters that sleep with me. I am thankful for the chance to be cozy.
grateful for new unexpected opportunities

Today is a wonderful day and I am grateful for so many choices and opportunities in my life as well as for being open to unseen guidance.
I think I am going to repeat myself but today I am grateful for the wonderful people at my church that put on funeral lunches. This is the fifth one this month. A team is on for a month at a time. They set up the room, prepare some of the food (some is donated by parishoners)and clean up. They are there a good portion of the day. Today when I dropped food off they were hard at work getting things going. My family has benefitted from this service twice and I know from personal experience it is appreciated. So to all who provide this service “THANK YOU!!!!”

I am grateful today for that wonderful adventure of Gratitude. Staying in present is the only way to happiness, the past is over we do not have any control to change it,and the journey to come is not yet there so why to be worry about, everything can change in a second anyway whith or whihout our control.
So the only the only thing to remimber is : Don’t worry, be happy at this minute!

Live, Love, & Laugh (in abundance).
Maybe this is a “to be” list instead of a “to do” list. Coming from being as you suggest, the “doing” would just be natural expressions of those ways of being. Focusing on who you want to be and what you want to create can be more empowering than how we typically approach our list of tasks to do. Seeing them as actions required in the bigger context of what we are out to fulfill on, makes them a lot less daunting. Goes back to your earlier post on the bigger picture. Shift the context from “to do’s” are things to get off our plate to these are actions to take to enable us to fulfill on the life we want.
I am grateful for having freedom to create new possibilities in life.
I am grateful for your daily inspirations, Dreama. You have opened our eyes to staying in the present moment. Thank you for all the time you have devoted to this wonderful project. Hugs back to you!!!

Also grateful for mentor, Jim, who says he is just guiding me while I push myself but it sure has made a difference in how far I have come. Grateful he is so giving in sharing all the Quang Ho lessons from his own workshop with Quang…love learning to paint just in light and shadow. Connecting all the shadows together to get pattern is amazing and the edges are so interesting. Love learning and in the end most grateful to be able to do that.

Thank you, Dreama – and for your inspirational thoughts/words as well. November weather where I live is usually pretty dreary, but this year,
thanks to you, Dreama, I don’t want the month to be over! Cheers!
This has been such an inspirational journey. Some of these things are sticking with me,helping me play my best game on all levels. Thank you Dreama for introducing me to Seth Godin, his quote-
“The way to get unstuck is to start down the wrong path, right now.”- really speaks to me. It applies to my painting and procrastinating about my painting as much as anything. Quang Ho says-“the only mistake you can make in a painting is not to make a decision at all.” All such great advice that I would never know without the Internet. Grateful!
I am truly grateful to my mentors who help me along my spiritual path. I feel such joy and delight in my life now.

Ahhhhh there’s nothing like that first cup of coffee for the day. Sea Dean

Today I am grateful for my sweet little dog Maggie who brightens every day with her sweet disposition. She makes strangers smile on the street. She loves people, grass, tree trunks, leaves, other dogs, postmen, strangers who smile at her, chasing her ball, her chew bones, sweet bell pepper treats, romaine lettuce leaves and I guess she loves just about everything. And I am grateful that she came into my life.
